Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a load and to stabilize reproduction output while a tape is running at a high speed, by making an erase head in slide contact with the magnetic tape during the high-speed run of the tape, and then by detecting a fixed part on the tape by the output of this erase head.
CONSTITUTION: In high-speed take-up operation, tube-chassis 5 moves slightly in comparison wth a position for reproduction and recording/reproducing head 11 is positioned where it does not come in contact with tape pad 17 of cassette 16. However, erase head 12 is set where contact pressure to the tape is kept enough to generate sufficient playback output. As a result, there is a little influence of tape pad 17 and a load on the tape is reduced. Connections among recording/reproducing head 11, erase head 12 and reproducing amplifier 18 are switched by switch 19 interlocking with sub-chassis 5 and in high-speed take-up playback mode, sub- chassis 5 is moved backward slightly from its playback position to change over switch 19, so that erase head 12 will be connected to reproducing amplifier 18. Thus, reduction of the load in high-speed tape run mode and stabilization of playback output are both attained.
