Abstract

PURPOSE: To put the front and back sides of beads into an optimum state and eliminate the weld defects at the final end of welding by defining the intensity of the total electron beam current near the final end of welding and controlling the intensity of the electron flow flowing out to the back side of the work in the greater portions of the other welding areas.
CONSTITUTION: In performing electron beam welding, the output of a function wave generator 1 and the output from a circuit 2 generating the voltage proportional to the intensity of the total electron beam current I1 are compared and the intensity of I1 is so controlled as to eliminate the difference of both by a deviation detecting amplifying circuit 3 and afterwards, near the final end of welding, and switches 6, 7 are so changed over as to compare the output from a circuit 4 generating the voltage proportional to the intensity of the through-beam current I2 and the output of an intensity setter 5 of the through-beam current to control the electron beam current I1 in such a manner that the intensity of the electron current I2 flowing to the back side of the work becomes normal value, in the greater portions of the other welding areas. In this way, the good front and back sides of beads are formed.
