Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively manufacture dies for diversified-kind and small-volume production by unifying the end face aggregate formed by wire materials to ultra- precise sizes by ultrasonic waves thereby molding the die surface.
CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic vibrator is mounted to the spindle of a numerically controlled milling machine, and the end face aggregate 1 formed by filling wire materials 2 in a case 3 and tightened properly by a retaining adapter 4 and lock bolts 5 is set to the table of the milling machine. In this way, numerically controlled curved surface forming work is performed and the individual wire materials 2 are put in and out in the longitudinal direction, whereby a required curved surface is formed. Upon ending of this work, the end face aggregate 1 is firmly tightened by the bolts 5, whereby the die by said aggregate is made. This die curved surface is smoothed, if necessary, with coating of synthetic resin, special rubber material, etc.
