Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate working of a pattern on a tire such as a test tire by constituting a method of and an apparatus for the same such that power ink charged to positive static potential is applied over the tire tread through a screen which has a pattern of slits and/or holes thereon and is placed on the tire tread.
CONSTITUTION: In order to form a groove or grooves of a desired pattern to be tested on a tread of a tire after vulcanization, at first tire 1 on which a pattern is to be marked is removably mounted on a tire mounting portion 10 secured to a frame 9. Then, a screen 2 held between grips 15a, 15b of a screen holding mechanism E is closely contacted with a tread 1a of the tire 1. Meanwhile, a static electric device 6 provides a static potential so that powder ink 5 contained in a brush 3 is charged to a positive static potential while the tire 1 is charged with a negative static potential by the ground 4. Finally, the brush 3 is brushed against the upper surface of the screen 2 to thus permit the positively charged ink 5 to be attracted to the negatively charged tire tread 1a so as to effect transfer of the pattern to the tread 1a.
