Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent exfoliation of and damage to a ply of a radial or semiradial tire which includes only inner plies by forming only the outermost one of the inner plies from nylon fiber cords while the other inner plies are formed from polyester cords.
CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic tire includes a carcass having its cords arranged at an angle of 90°W70° relative to the equator line of the tire with their opposite ends wound up around a bead wire 8 and a belt layer for reinforcing the crown portion of the carcass. The carcass includes inner plies 1W3, and only that ply 3 which is located at a radialy outermost position to contact with a bead apex 5 is formed from a ply of nylon fiber cords. Each of the other plies 1, 2 is formed from a ply of cords of polyethylene terephtalate or polyester fibers. The turnup height of these carcass plies are selected such that their ends terminate within a range from the bead base to a location at which the tire has its greatest width.
