Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to clean filter of a ventilator with ease, by providing a filter coated with a self-cleaning layer containing an oil decomposing catalyst and a heater for promoting reaction of said catalyst at the portion of an air port of the ventilator.
CONSTITUTION: A filter 17 for a range ventilating fan 2 is, for instance, made of a laminate of aluminum lath and is coated on its surface with a self-cleaning layer of porous self-cleaning enamel containing a metal oxide such as MnO having a catalytic action. Althrough the metal oxide in the self-cleaning layer has a certain catalytic action at the room temperature, the catalystic action is promoted if it is heated to a proper temperature. For this end, a heater 18 is provided on the lower surface of filter 17, such that current supply to the heater 18 can be controlled through manipulation of a switch 5 independently of a ventilating-fan driving motor 11. With such an arrangement, self-cleaning function of the filter can be promoted by the heater and clogging of the filter by oily dust stuck thereto can be removed.
