CONSTITUTION:At the left end of original 1, marks 8 and 9 are previously provided to the initial line and terminal line of picture information to be transmitted or recorded; and a facsimile transmitter or scanning type duplicator reads original 1 by fast feeding and, after detecting initial mark 8, reads the original at a constant speed and the transmission or recording is started from picture information on the line and continued until picture information on a line where next mark 9 is detected. Therefore, an unneeded part can be skipped by fast feeding and the needed part only can be read at the stationary speed and transmitted, so that the transmission time can be shortened. Further, since the marks are provided at only the initial point and terminal point of the needed picture information, the trouble of entering marks can be eliminated.
