Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain reception and recording of one transmitted original using several sheets of recording paper by temporarily stopping transmission at a halfway point of a sub scan on a transmission side and then by cutting recording paper on a reception side before restarting the transmission.
CONSTITUTION: Under the control of transmission control circuit 27 and motor control circuit 23, the transmitter starts step motor 10 to move an original, which is read by scanner 16, whose output is amplified by picture signal amplifier 20, and picture-signal processing circuit 21 and a picture signal coder perform a binary- coding process. When the original reaches the point of maximum recording length L of receiving recording paper, original length detection circuit 30 controls circuit 23 by the detection output of an original detecting element and motor 10 is stopped by its signal to stop a sub scan temporarily. At the same time, a signal is sent to the reception side from circuit 27 by way of modulator 31 and network control circuit 25. At the reception side, reception for one sheet is considered to end and a response signal is immediately sent back to the transmission side to cut the recording paper, thereby starting following reception. At the transmission side, a check code is transmitted and received and the remaining part is sent again. In this way, an original longer in size than the recording paper can be transmitted.
