Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition having extremely improved processing characteristics and impact resistance, obtained by adding a rubber modified polystyrene obtained by polymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer in the presence of a low- molecular-weight polymer consisting essentially of isobutylene to polyphenylene ether.
CONSTITUTION: Polyphenylene ether is blended with a rubber modified polystyrene obtained by polymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer in the presence of a butadiene- based rubber elastomer and 40W100wt% based on the elastomer of a polymer having an average molecular weight 200W1,500 consisting essentially of isobutylene. The rubber modified polystyrene is used in any blending amount, and generally 20W80wt% based on the total amount of the composition of the rubber modified polystyrene is used.
