Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the contacting time of a rotating shaft with the sliding surface of the dynamic pneumatic bearing and to contrive the increase in the lifetime of the dynamic pneumatic bearing type motor by detecting the rotational speed of the motor when the motor is stopped and imparting reverse rotation to the rotating direction thereof to the motor responsive to a signal from the detector to thereby brake the motor. CONSTITUTION:A three-phase hysteresis synchronous motor 1 having a dynamic pneumatic bearing unit is driven in such a manner that an input drive signal 5 is divided in frequency into three phases in a drive circuit 2. The detector 3 detects the rotational speed of the motor 1 and a speed discriminator 4 detects whether the rotational speed is higher or lower than the load capacity limit speed of the dynamic pneumatic bearing unit to thereby control the drive circuit 2. When the rotational speed accordingly becomes lower than the load capacity limit speed, the drive circuit 2 applies a reverse rotary drive signal to the motor 1 to thus brake the motor 1 for stoppage thereof. Consequently, it is possible to shorten the time of stopping the motor, thereby reducing the damage on the sliding surface of bearing and increasing the lifetime of the motor 1.
