Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress abrupt increase of the number of revolutions of a follower pulley at the time of acceleration by providing a driving pulley in such an arrangement that the degree of widening on the outer side in radial direction from the contact position with a V-belt at the time of constant speed is greater than the degree on the inner side. CONSTITUTION:The device of this invention works in the same manner as any conventional arrangement till the speed change ratio reaches one, i.e. until both speeds are equalized. The form of a driving pulley 2 in contact with a V-belt 5 is such that the degree of widening is greater than a conventional arrangement at the time of acceleration in a range the speed change ratio exceeds one, so that the rate of increment in the radius of rotation of the V-belt 5 will decrease even in case a movable pulley 2a of the driving pulley 2 has moved toward the stationary pulley 2b in the same amount. In response thereto the rate of decrement in the radius of rotation of the V-belt 5 on the follower side will decrease. Accordingly the rate of increment of the revolving speed of the follower side at the time of acceleration will decrease and increase is made at a contact rate from deceleration via equal speed running to acceleration.
