Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the correct measurement of length free from any shock by a constitution wherein a slab is made to overrun the size-setting point a little and stop, under the condition without a stopper, and then it is pushed back to the above point by the stopper.
CONSTITUTION: The main body 1 of a shear press is constituted so that a slab S moving on a roller table 2 arranged in the front and rear of the main body is cut in the set size by the engagement of upper and lower shearing edges 3 and 4. Next, a main truck 5 is moved forward and backward properly, driven by a motor 7, and thereby the front surface of a contact member 13 is made to meet a size-setting point. After that, the slab S is sent in such a manner that the tip edge S' thereof overruns the size-setting point but stops just before the contact member 13 so as not to strike against the member, and, by extending a hydraulic cylinder 10 again, a sub-truck 9 fitted with a stopper mechanism 11 is advanced, thereby the slab S being pushed back to the size-setting point. By this constitution, the correct measurement of length free from any shock can be performed.
