Abstract
PURPOSE: An antiseptic and antifungal agent useful for wood etc., capable of exhibiting sufficient antiseptic and antifungal effects even in a very small amount with low toxicity and high safety, and comprising a phenol and a petroleum hydrocarbon resin or rosin as essential constituents.
CONSTITUTION: An antiseptic and antifungal agent comprising (A) 100pts.wt. a phenol expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are H, 1W10C alkyl, aralkyl or aryl groups; R3 is 1W10C alkyl, aralkyl or aryl group; X is Cl or NO2; M is H, ammonium, alkali metal, etc.; n is 0 or 1), e.g. p-cumylphenol, and (B) 10W1,000pts.wt., preferably 100W500pts.wt., a petroleum hydrocarbon resin, e.g. an aromatic hydrocarbon resin having a softening point of 80W150°C or a rosin, e.g. a polymerized rosin, as an additive. The antiseptic and antifungal agent is used in various nonfood materials, e.g. wood, leather, paper, fiber, paste, adhesive, coating material, pigment solution and lubricating oil.
