Abstract

PURPOSE:A polypropylene-based FRP having improved impact resistance, prepared by reinforcing polypropylene containing nylon with glass fiber. CONSTITUTION:There are mixed less than 50wt%, based on polypropylene, of nylon and glass fiber in an amount which corresponds preferably to 5-50wt% of a resin/fiber mixture. The resin/fiber mixture is heated and mechanically agitated sufficiently strongly at a temperature higher than the m.p. of the nylon, pref., a temperature higher than the m.p. by 10-50 deg.C. As the nylon, nylon 6 or nylon 66 is preferably used. Also, as the nylon, a nylon having a relative viscosity of 24-5, when measured according to JIS K6810 method, is preferred and as the polypropylene, a propylene having a melt index of at least 0.3, when measured according to JIS K6760 method, is preferred. As the glass fiber, chopped strand is preferred.
