Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the current efficiency and the safety by a method wherein plural unit of electrolytic cells are connected by a diaphragm so as to form a common space in upper part thereof and an electrolytic liquid is maintained to a same level or successively lower level to a flow direction. CONSTITUTION:The plural electrolytic cells are connected by the diaphragm 5, 10 in an electrolytic apparatus 1 and have the common space in upper parts. An electroytic liquid such as a salt solution in poured into the first unit cell from a pouring port 2 and poured into the second unit cell from a pouring port 8 through an outflow port 6 and, moreover, entered into the third unit cell through an outflow port 11 and a pouring port 12, thereafter exhausted from an exhaust port 15. In this time, the position of outflow ports and pouring ports is appropriately determined to maintain the electrolytic liquid to a same liquid surface level or to manipulate said electrolytic liquid by flowing in a cascade system. Because H2 gas contaning O2 gas generated in each unit cell generated as a byproduct is mixed and homogenized in the common space, high concentrated O2 gas in downstream unit cell is diluted and the danger of explosion is eliminated.
