Abstract
PURPOSE: To attain the reduction of fuel ratio and stabilization of operation by the estimation of the grain size distribution by the grain segregation simulation using the measured values of the constitution of charged grains before charging them into the blast furnace and of the layer thickness distribution after being charged them into the blast furnace and the conditions of charging and operation.
CONSTITUTION: In the estimation of the constitution of grains in the radial direction of charges at the top of the blast furnace, the grain constitution before charging it into the blast furnace and the layer thickness distribution after being charged it into the blast furnace are measured by well- known methods, and by the grain segregation simulation using these measured values and the conditions of charing and operation, the constitution of charges at each point in the radial direction of the layer charged from the top is estimated. That is, the estimated values of the grain constitution of charges at any point in the radial direction, obtained from calculations using the actual values of the grain constitution before charging and the layer thickness distribution, etc., are in well agreement with the actually measured values, justifying the validity of the said estimation method. Thus, a charging method to optimize the distribution of charges can be quantitatively examined and therefore optimum control can be attained.
