Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the desired ketone simply in high yield without using a reactive raw material and troublesome procedures, by acylating an organic halide with CO and an organometallic compound in the presence of a palladium catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: An organic halide, e.g. iodobenzene, of the formula R1X (R1 is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or heterocyclic group; X is halogen) is reacted with an organometallic compound of the formula Rm 2MYn (R2 is R1; Y is electro-negative group, H or R1, M is metallic atom; m and n are integers; plural R2;s or Y;s may be the same or different and M and Rm 2 may form a cyclic structure), e.g. tetrabutyltin, and CO in the presence of a metallic palladium or its complex as a catalyst in the presence of absence of a solvent, preferably at 50W150°C and a partial pressure of CO of 1W50atm to give the desired ketone, e.g. Ph-CO-n- C4H9.
