Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a device with a decrease of its operating temperature, improvement of its reliability, reduction of its power consumption and easiness of its drive circuit, by using a coil heater, forming a cathode with said coil heater and applying one cathode for one picture element. CONSTITUTION:A support body 12 is arranged between picture elements in a back- to-back base plate 11. Said support body 12 holds a prescribed portion except the effective part of a hot cathode, to which the thermion emitting material of a coil heater 13 is applied, to both constitute the heating power feed electrode for the coil heater 13 and spatially support said coil heater 13. On the coil heater 13 a support plate 15 is provided, and on said support plate 15 many ribbon-shaped electrodes 16 are arranged as a plate electrode. Further a support plate 17 having an electrode 18, support plate 19, electrode 20 in which an opening part 20a is provided, spacer 21 and plate fluorescent screen 23, in which a picture element 22 is provided, are arranged.
