Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the dielectric strength between electrodes of an electron gun, by arranging a tubular insulator in the radially directional vacuum gap between two electrodes at a face-to-face position to each other. CONSTITUTION:To an anode support tube 11 a ceramic cylinder 17 is fixed through a sealing plate 16 and arranged in the vacuum gap of electrodes between a Wehnelt 3 and the anode support tube 11. Accordingly the ceramic arranged throughout a most part of the vacuum gap between the Wehnelt 3 and the anode support tube 11, even if the state of vcuum is locally deteriorated in the vacuum gap, can establish a shielding not to cause an electric discharge.
