Abstract

PURPOSE: To form easily a ball guide groove with which to roll and guide a ball beyond a crest of a thread for ball nut by using a forming the die with a matrix obtained through bending a wire rod to a desired shape of a ball passage.
CONSTITUTION: A ball screw comprises recycling a ball 5 rolling along a spiral groove 2 of a thread 1 by having it get over a crest 8 formed between the spiral grooves 2 of the thread 1 through a ball guide groove 6 of prolonged "S" shape between adjacent spiral grooves 4 of a ball nut 3. In such ball screw, the ball guide groove 6 is formed by means of a forming die 10 with a matrix which is obtained through bending a wire rod on the thread 1 to the shape of ball passage. Namely, the forming die 10 having a projection 13 which conforms to the guide groove 6 is set in the nut 3, a circular hole 9 notched as far as two spiral grooves 4 of the nut 3 is stopped up, and a forming matter like plastics is packed and hardened therein.
