Abstract
PURPOSE: To conduct denitrifying teatment effectively by a method wherein a dentrifying process is divided into two processes, oxidation nitrogen is removed by injecting a carbon source in one process, and residual oxidation nitrogen is removed by controlling the quantity of the carbon source injected in the other process.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water 1 is nitrated by a nitrating process 2, and introduced to one denitrifying process 4, about 80W90% oxidation nitrogen in a nitrating liquid is removed by injecting an organic carbon source (methanol) here, the waste water is introduced to the other denitrifying process 5, and the residual oxidation nitrogen is removed here by setting the quantity of the organic carbon source injected to zero or quantity insufficient to the breeding of denitrifying bacteria. These operation is alternately exchanged. The change-over is conducted by a timer, and the height of a layer of media formed by the increase and decrease of the denitrifying bacteria is detected when the denitrifying processes are conducted granular media.
