Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure a stable paper detecting function even at a dusty place and for a long priod of time, by installing a transparent cover having the surface inclined in the travelling direction of the paper along the guide surface of the paper and in the optical path.
CONSTITUTION: Transparent cover 7 is provided to paper guide 2, and packing 6 is put between light emitting element 4 and cover 7 to secure a perfect sealing for element 4. An inclination is given to the upper surface of cover 7 so that the paper tip always rubs the upper surface of cover 7 by the running of the original or recording paper 1 in the direction of (a). As a result, element 4 is isolated from outside to avoid sticking of the dust. Furthermore, the dust sticking onto the upper surface of cover 7 can be eliminated by the shift of the tip of paper 1.
