Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a filler for the liquid or gas chromatography which is excellent in the separating capacity and can reduce the time of analysis, by securing the reaction of the specified silane compound to the fine grain type porous carrier.
CONSTITUTION: The following substances are prepared: the hydrate of the metal oxide such as the silica, alumina, magnesia, titania, etc.; the hydroxide of the metal such as the titanium, zirconium, cobalt, nickel, etc.; and the fine grain type porous carrier such as the diatom aceous earth, quartz, etc. having the 1W70μm mean grain size, 6W800m2/g surface area and 30W4,000Å mean fine pore diameter respectively. Then a reaction is secured for the carrier by using the silane compound shown by the formula (R1: alkyl; R2: ethylene, vinylene; R3, R4 and R5: alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxyl, halogen, H) by 0.5W10-fold equivalent quantity to the hydroxyl group. Thus the desired filler can be obtained.
