Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture wires having a uniform mechanical characteristics lengthwisely by cooling uniformly wire coils by means of using vertical rolls having a wire guide groove jointly with a conveyer, when a drawn and continuous ring type formed wire is cooled while being transferred on the conveyer. CONSTITUTION:A hard wire 1 rolled by a hot finish rolling mill 11 is introduced in a cooler 12 to cool from a roll finished temperature of 1,000-1,100 deg.C to a temperature of 950-850 deg.C. The wire is then made to loose coils 4 by a laying cone 13 and transferred on a conveyer 14. On this occasion, vertical rolls 16 and 17 provided with a helical guide groove 21 are installed oppositely on right and left sides between transfer rolls 15, and are drived by other reduction gears 18 and 19 to rotate in a different rotational frequency. Wire coils 4 touching these vertical rolls are displaced so as to be twisted in the direction of an arrow C due to the difference in rotational frequency of the vertical rolls 16 and 17, and also are pushed up with the guide groove 21, so that the overlapped part 2 of the wires each other is shifted and the contact portion with the conveyer is always changed, and the wire coils 4 are cooled uniformly with refrigerant, resulting in an uniform composition.
