Abstract
PURPOSE:To compensate the positional shift of scanning element, by detecting the number of duplicated bits through the scanning of test pattern before the original scanning without fail and removing one of the duplicated part of the original scanning using these bits, when the original scanning is made with a plurality of solid- state scanning elements. CONSTITUTION:When the picture of the original 6 is scanned with a plurality of solidstate scanning elements 1, 2, the test pattern 5 is scanned without fail ahead the original scanning. Taking the length of the pattern 5 as L, the scanning area is taken as the scanning area S1 by the element 1, that of the element 2 is as the scanning area S2 and that scanned duplicatedly with the elements 1, 2 as S0. Further, the pattern 5 is scanned with the element 1 to output the picture signal pattern b, the element 2 outputs the picture signal pattern C, and the duplicated area S0 is counted and stored. With the stored and duplicated area S0, the unnecessary area of the duplicated area of the picture signal obtained through the scanning of the original 6 is removed to compensate the error in the picture output due to position shift of the elements 1 and 2.
