Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure the flow rate accurately at any time by keeping the magnetic flux density of the mgnetic poles of a permanent magnet constant by flowing an electric current through an electromagnetic coil wound around the permanent magnet and by regulating the magnetic flux by the electromagnetic coil.
CONSTITUTION: From the flank of piping 2 penetrating permanent magnet 1, electrode 3 for detecting induced electromotive force is fitted. In piping 2, electromotive force 4 induced in a fluid with electric conductivity appears. Opposing to the flank of piping 2, magnetic flux densimeter 6 is provided on the internal surface of permanent magnet 1. Electrode 3 is connected to the flow rate measurer 7 that converts electromotive force into a flow rate. When the magnetic flux density of the magnetic pole of permanent magnet 1 deviates from a prescribed value, magnet 1 is wound with electromagnetic coil 11 for compensating that and an electric current is flowed from electric power source 13 to secure the prescribed magnetic flux density. To hold the magnetic flux density invariably constant, magnetic flux density constancy controller 15 is provided which eliminates automatically the deviation of the measured value of magnetic flux densimeter 6 from the set density value. According to a magnetic flux density deviation signal, the controller 15 regulates the current of electromagnetic coil 11 to maintain the constant magnetic flux density.
