Abstract

PURPOSE: To monitor corrosion of a structure simply at a low cost by exposing two each of lead wires at the bottom of a plurality of measuring holes varied in thickness on the terminal identical in the material to the structure in such a manner as to be less in the thickness than of the wall of the structure.
CONSTITUTION: The measuring holes 1W4 varied in the thickness 8W8' are arranged on the termial hood identical ih the material to the structure wall 11 is such a manner as to be less in the thickness than that of the wall of the structure and two each of lead wires, for example, the tips 9 and 19 are exposed to the hole bottoms. The monitoring terminal is airtightly joined on the structure wall 11 by welding or the like. Here, as the corrosion of the bottoms 8W8' grows, an electrolytic solution infiltrates into the closed spaces 7W7' in order according to the thickness through thinner hole bottoms causing conduction between the two lead wires to light the lamp in the circuit. Thus, the corrosion speed of the structure wall is accurately made known, thereby, enabling the monitoring of the corrosion simply at a low cost.
