Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of a cut at press forming and thus to improve external appearance and strength of a carpet by keeping top and periphery of a convexity of a forming die for automobile floor carpet expansively elastically.
CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic synthetic resin 1 for automobile floor carpet is heated and softened and then arranged on a press forming die consisting of a lower die 13 with a convexity 13A provided thereon and an upper die 14 with a concavity 14A to mate with the convexity 13A provided thereon. Then, a top 13B of the convexity 13A of the lower die 13 is fitted slidably in a die groove 13C, a bottom of the top 13B is pressed by a spring 13D to constitute the top of the convexity 13A expansively and elastically, and preferably a pushing piece 15 supported by a spring 15A is arranged on a periphery of the lower die 13. A stretch allowance for the carpet at press forming is formed thereby, thus preventing occurrence of a cut in the carpet at the time of forming process.
