Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the damage of an inner surface of a pipe to be washed as well as to impart excellent durability to a washing article by using a molded article of of polyvinyl formal sponge with specified resilience as a washing article.
CONSTITUTION: As the washing article of substances adhering to an inner surface of a tubular membrance used in reverse osmosis or ultrafiltration, a molded article of polyvinyl formal sponge with resilience of 30% or more and a formylation degree of about 55W75mol% is used. Because this molded article is excellent in chemical resistance and durability and has little danger of damaging a surface of a tubular membrane, the washing can be carried out well over a prolonged period.
