Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare toothpaste which is effective to prevent the dental caries, pyorrhea, etc., accelerates the secretion of saliva, and does not affect the taste and flavor of food taken after brushing the teeth, by using pickled ''ume'' (Japanese plum) and ''ume'' vinegar as effective components. CONSTITUTION:Pickeld ''ume'' is stoned, and the pulp and skin of the pickled ''ume'' is ground with e.g. a home mixer, an earthenware mortar, etc. A proper amount of the paste thus prepared is added together with ''ume'' vinegar to the conventional toothpaste on the market, packed in a toothpaste tube, and used as toothpaste. It can be manufactured easily and economically, simply by adding pickled ''ume'' and ''ume'' vinegar to the commercial toothpaste or tooth powder. The fibrous component of the pickled ''ume'' increases the viscosity of the toothpaste and cleans the teeth. The flavor of the pickled ''ume'' promotes the secretion of the saliva, and increases the appetite.
