Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate an easy correction of the information, by adding the position information which cannot be read to the information with which the mark put on the slip has been read.
CONSTITUTION: For reading the slip, the optical mark reading device detects the first timing mark 1 (showing the information position) and then reads out information mark 2. Then the mark detection signal is compared with the reference level set previously to decide the upper and lower signals as black and white respectively. And signal X which cannot be read is produced between the upper and lower signals. Signal X is then supplied to encoder 21 and checking circuit 22, and the line address on the slip where signal X is delivered, i.e., the unreadable position is delivered by encoder 21. And the signal with which the information becomes uncertain owing to the output of two or more signals is delivered by circuit 22. At the same time, counter 20 carries out counting to decide the timing mark area where the output of encoder 21 is produced. Thus the timing mark's area and its position where the signal becomes unreadable are detected to be sent to the processor along with the reading information.
