PURPOSE:To perform data transmission similarly to TWX and DDD lines, by causing data to pass through an interface which performs code conversion even for the TLX line, in the teleprinter where the TWX or DDD line is used to transmit data. CONSTITUTION:When CPU 19 is set to the local mode as well as the store mode and a message is input to the transmission destination, the message is stored in RAM21 and is printed; and if the TWX or DDD line is designated, the message is transmitted through MODEM part 22, and receiving data is printed on prinetr 20. If the TLX line is designated, the dial signal is transmitted to the exchange through TLX interface 61; and when the station is connected to the other-party station, the answer-back request signal is given to code converting circuit 51 from CPU 19, and the 8-bit code is converted to a 5-bit code and is transmitted from interface circuit 61. Data from the TLX line is converted to the 5-bit code by interface circuit 61 and is converted to the 8-bit code by converting circuit 51 and is stored or printed.
