Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate a working therefor and enable to mass-produce it by a method wherein a shaft portion and a gear member such as a gear, a sprocket or the like, which are employed for a speed changer for an two-wheeled motorcycle or the like, are formed by separate bodies and both of the members are connected at end surfaces thereof to make a coaxial shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A thick pipe material satisfying a shaft strength is employed as a shaft member 21, is cut into a piece having a predetermined length and spline grooves 23 are formed by a press work on an outer periphery thereof, further, a large diametral portion 21a, intermediate portions 21b, 21c, a small diametral portion 21d and an end portion 21e are formed continuously. A gear member 22 is made by cutting a gear portion 26 on an outer periphery of a short material in an axial direction thereof and forming an oil port 28 at a central portion thereof into an axial direction. Then, the shaft member 21 and the gear member 22 are abutted against each other coaxially at connecting end terminals 21f, 22a and are integralized by connecting by a friction welding or the like. According to this method, the gear member of a transmitting shaft is formed by machining from one piece of a round rod, therefore, manufacturing thereof is facilitated and mass-production thereof may be achieved.
