Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable high transmission efficiency between optical paths to be maintained by inserting pentagonal prisms at the points of intersection of the respective optical axes of the plural optical fibers which are so disposed as to intersect orthogonally with each other and disposing the len systems that couple incident light and exit light. CONSTITUTION:Plural optical fibers 25A-25D, 26A-26D are disposed in a state that the transverse axes of respective exit rays 21A-21D to the same plane and incident rays 22A-22D thereto intersect at 90 deg. with respect to other. Pentagonal prisms 1A-1D which are held freely movably in and out individually are provided to the respective points 27A-27D of intersections in the relations of intersecting the respective incident planes and exit planes orthogonally with the optical axes. In addition, lens systems, such as collimating lenses, which parallel the exit rays and allow them to enter the prisms or focus the exit rays from the prisms and allow them to enter optical fibers are provided between the respective end faces of the prisms 1A-1D and optical fibers 25A-25D, 26A-26D. Thereby, the matrix photoswitch may be obtained easily and simply.
