Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a permanent current switch, to enhance the electric resistance thereof in off state, and reduce the heater power consumption thereof by employing low carrier density superconductor as a switching member. CONSTITUTION:A terminal 5 is rigidly, electrically and mechanically connected through solder or the like to a bar-like switching member 1 made of superconductor of low carrier density such as Perovskite solid solution compound or Cheverel phase compound or the like. Heater wires 2 heat the switching member 1 as desired to allow the member 1 to become normal conductive state. A heat insulator 3 is provided to surround the switching member 1 and the heater 2.
