Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively remove sulfuric acid mist, potassium chloride dust, etc. in hydrogen chloride gas generated by the dry reaction of sulfuric acid and potassium chloride to obtain potassium sulfate, etc. by scrubbing the hydrogen chloride gas with sulfuric acid.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrogen chloride gas contg. sulfuric acid mist, etc. is generated when sulfuric acid is dry reacted with 2W2.2mol equivalent potassium chloride in reaction furnace 1 to obtain potassium sulfate, etc. The gas enters a lower portion of gas scrubbing tower 3 through duct 2. On the other hand, 60W85% sulfuric acid in a scrubbing sulfuric acid tank is fed to an upper portion of tower 3 through pump 5 and duct 6. The gas rising in tower 3 is freed of a very small amount of sulfuric acid mist and most of potassium chloride dust, potassium hydrogensulfate dust, potassium sulfate dust and other dust by scrubbing with showering sulfuric acid, and the scrubbed gas is taken out of an upper portion of tower 3 through duct 8. The concn. of sulfuric acid mist in the gas, the concn. of potassium chloride dust and the total concn. of potassium hydrogensulfate dust are preferably 0.5W0.1mg/ Nm3, 0.05W0.02mg/Nm3 and 0.2W0.1mg/Nm3, and the flow rate of the gas is preferably adjusted to 0.05W1m/sec.
