Abstract
Parent patent described the purificn. of waste gases by the absorption of noxion impurities in scrubbing towers. Improvement to is the use of >=2 scrubbing towers, where liq., e.g. water, used in the last tower is fed into a preceding tower in which initial gas purificn. occurs. In the proceeding tower, i.e. the first scrubber, the washing liq. travels downwards through a vertical row of sieves (A) in which the holes have an area of 35-45 (pref. 40)%, of the total surface of the sieves. The sieve holes pref. have a pitch of min. 15 mm, the ratio pitch: hole width being 1.4-6:1. The purified gas contains max. 5 mg impurities per m3.
