Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an image-forming material facilitating color proof, by a method wherein a photosensitive silver halide emulsion, containing one or more sublimating and/or thermally transferring dyes is coated on a base in one or more layers. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive silver halide emulsion, containing one or more sublimating and/or thermally transferring dyes, for example, nitroso dye as shown by the formula I, azo dye as shown by the formula II, quinophthalon dye as shown by the formula III, anthraquinone dye as shown by the formula IV or the like, are coated on a base in one or more layers. To this image-forming material are applied the following processes sequentially: a process of giving an exposure impressing an image; a process of hardening and developing it; a process of obtaining a relief image by dissolving and removing non-image portions with warm water; and a process of placing an image-receiving material on the relief image and, thereafter, transferring the sublimating and/or thermally transferring dyes in the relief image onto the image-receiving material by heating the dyes to a temperature higher than the sublimating or thermally transferring temperature of the dyes and pressing them.
