Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the productivity at the friction pressure welding by parallel performing deburring at the time of performing upsetting by rotating both works at high and low speeds respectively under axial thrust to cause frictional evolution of heat then making the speeds thereof low and equal.
CONSTITUTION: The works 6a, 6b are respectively inserted into the chucks 2, 3 revolving at a low speed and are gripped by gripping jaws 4, 5, after which the revolutions of the chuck 3 are shifted to a high speed and the chuck 2 is advanced toward the chuck 3 to cause frictional contact between the two works 6a, 6b under axial thrust, thereby evolving heat. Next, the pole change motor driving the chuck 3 is changed over to lower the speed of the chuck 3. When the rotating speed of the chuck 3 lowers and becomes equal to that of the chuck 2 or before this, the gripping jaws 5 of the chuck 3 are released to make the two work pieces 6a, 6b rotatable integrally.
