Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate flickering and to avoid luminance distortion, by correcting a luminance signal in response to both a primary color level signal and color difference level signal. CONSTITUTION:A primary color level detector 1 produces a primry color level signal having substantially equal level to the sum of squares of the primary color signals R, G, B and supplies it to a luminance signal synthesizer 4. On the other hand, a color difference signal synthesizer 2 produces a color difference signal including a cross color component corresponding to the primary color signals R, G, B and supplies it to a color difference level detector 3. It produces the color difference level signal having substantialy equal level to the sum of squares in response to the color diference signal and supplies it to the luminance signal synthesizer 4. The synthesizer 4 outputs the luminance signal YM corrected through responding to both the primary color level signal and color difference level signal.
