Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a head from crushing by automatically cleaning a head slider surface, by providing a cleaning track on a magnetic disk surface. CONSTITUTION:A track 6 for cleaning a slider is provided at the CSS track 5 of a magnetic disk 3 or its circumference, and flaws 7 of 5mum depth, 8mum width and 2.8mm. length which is perpendicular to the track 6 are provided at ten positions with a diamond stylus. A magnetic head 2, after being slid on a smooth or flaw-free track in contact, is passed on the cleaning track 6 to stick a lubricant 4 in flaws 7, thereby cleaning the slider. Therefore, a head slider surface is cleaned automatically to prevent the head from crushing.
