Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent evaporation and leakage of fuel while not in use and make a device for this purpose lighter in weight and higher in performance by so arranging the device that fuel vapor is conducted to an internal combustion enging through plural pieces of activated carbon-laminated bodies of monolith construction at all times.
CONSTITUTION: The fuel vapor produced in a fuel tank passes through a fuel vapor lead-in pipe 1, and flows into a space part 12 via a check valve 4a, after which it flows via a filter 6a into activated canbon 9aW9d, by which it is adsorbed and held. On the other hand, even if the desorbed fuel vapor flows as gaseous mixture together with desorbing air into the engine suction part when an engine is being operated while satisfying good conditions, the desorbing air is introduced through a desorbing air intake port 11, and flows via the filter 6b to the inside of the activated carbon 9aW9d, thereby desorbing the fuel vapor having been adsorbed and held and regenerating the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon 9aW9d. After this, the fuel vapors as gaseous mixture flow through the filter 6a, and a check valve 5a, and are introduced into the combustion chamber via the engine suction part through a mixed gas lead-out pipe 2, whereby they are burned.
