Abstract

PURPOSE: To coagulate a latex without forming rubber aggelomerate, by coagulating and growing latex particles by adjusting the pH at 7 or below by adding an aqueous lactic acid solution of a specified acid concentration to a conjugated diene type rubber latex at a specified temperature and, then, adding a bacis substance to the latex.
CONSTITUTION: In coagulating and growing the particles of a conjugated diene type rubber latex (e.g., poly-1,3-butadiene) by lowering the pH of the latex by addition of an aqueous lactic acid solution, the latex is coagulated by adding the aqueous lactic acid solution to the latex while keeping the temperature at 30°C or above and maintaining the acid concentration of the aqueous lactic acid solution at 1.5W15% and, then, adding a basic substance, e.g., NaOH. It is possible to obtain an industrially useful rubber latex without significantly forming rubber agglomerate and markedly lowering the rubbery polymer concentration.
