Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the burying depth of a long-sized body constant by shifting a weight provided on the top of an excavating body based on the results from the monitoring of the rise and the fall in the rear section of the excavating body, when the long-sized body is buried excavating the bottom of the sea with a front-inclined section of the excavating body supported on a sleigh.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of sleighs 10 are connected together through an arm 14 with a pace left on both sides of a control frame 12 which an excavating body 16 of a right-angled triangle or the like is supported on a frame 12 in such a manner as to oscillate on the front thereof with a shaft 18. The sleighs 10 are tensioned over the submarine surface 20 through a wire 22. The excavating body 16 jets a water 24 from a forward inclined section 162 to excavate the bottom of the sea. In this case, a weight 28 is mounted on the top thereof 16 in such a manner as to move longitudinally and moved with a screw rod 30 being rotated by a motor 32. The rise and fall in the rear of the excavating body 16 is monitored with a bury depth meter 36 or the like, the output of which controls the motor 32 to maintain the excavating body 16 at a constant depth shifting the weight 28 back and forth.
