Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately set slab position and enhance the accuracy of a slab positioning device by detecting the skid mark positions after extraction from a heating furnace, and adaptively correcting the same to an operated and controlled position of the slab. CONSTITUTION:The information entering an arithmetic device 10 from a set input 16 is converted like the equation (DELTAL is the length converted to a slab), and is handed to a slab stop position operating device 8. Next, the device 8 controls a conveying table controller 9 at the timing from a material position detector 3. The controller 9 forms a minor loop automatic controlling system with a table speed detector 7, and stops the slab 2 loaded into a heating furnace 1 at the set value by the command from the device 8. Next, the skid marks of the slab 2 extracted from the furnace 1 are detected 12. Here, in said equation, H0 denotes the thickness of the slab, b0 the width of the slab, hF a target thickness, bF a targeted width, and DELTAl the distance from the leading end of the strip converted to the targeted length up to the skid marks, respectively.
