Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a mud gun which reduces the maximum swiveling radius during swiveling of a barrel and holds the barrel during swiveling and retreating horizontally by providing a spring yoke and a stopper limiting the angle formed by the barrel and a frame bracket between a gun carriage arm and a gun carriage side bracket.
CONSTITUTION: The mud gun in a closing state is swiveled by a swiveling and press-fitting driving device 19. It is put in press contact with an iron notch 2 by an inclining device 23 which is so constituted as to incline the leading end of a barrel 9 in conformity with the notch 2 near the notch 2 continuously by making use of the angle θ between a gun carriage arm 6 and the barrel 9 which is changed by the link mechanism consisting of the arm 6, a gun carriage side bracket 10, a barrel side bracket 12 and a control rod 13. Further, the arm 6 is positioned approximately perpendicularly to the centerline, and the axial centerline of the barrel 9 is positioned perpendicularly to the arm 6, that is, its plane is aligned approximately to the centerline of the notch 2. This mud gun is used adequately for closing of the iron notch of a blast furnace in particular.
