Abstract

PURPOSE:The titled composition with a small yellowing, strength reduction, etc. at high temperatures, causing no bleeding of a flame-retardant on the surface of a molded aritcle, obtained by blending a thermoplastic polyester with a tetrabromo- bisphenol A-based addition polymer, a metal oxide, etc. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester consisting of terephthalic acid or its alkylester, and a 2-4C glycol is blended with a block or ramdom addition polymer consisting of thetrabromobisphenol A, a polyfunctional alcohol, and epichlorohydrin or beta-methyl-epichlorohydrin, preferably 3-50pts.wt. compound shown by the formula (Z is H or CH3; R is a group remained after removal of terminal OH from polyfunctional alcohol; l and m are 1-10), more preferably 1-25pts.wt. calculated as Br of the compound, as a flame-retardant, and 0.1-20pts.wt. metallic oxide as a flame-retardant auxiliary. The addition of a reinforcing material, e.g., 5-150pts.wt. glass fibers, improves further mechanical properties and heat resistance, and lowers molding shrinkage.
