Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the detection of a residual amount of ink and improve maintenance characteristics in an apparatus using an ink tank by making plural LEDs emit light in compliance with the residual amount of ink. CONSTITUTION:When the pulses from a monostable multivibrator 6 are applied to the electrodes 1, 2 immersed in the ink 3 in an ink tank 4, the current flowing across the electrodes 1 and 2 changes according to the residual amount of the ink 3. The voltage across a resistance 5 with a change in this current is detected with comparators 9a-9n, and LEDs 7a-7n are made to emit light by way of corresponding FFs 10a-10n. Hence, the residual amount of the ink is discriminated from the number of light emission of the LEDs.
