Abstract

PURPOSE:To know the correspondence relations between cylinders and marker signals by forming a magnetic flux generating means corresponding to one specific cylinder out of plural cylinders by using a plurality of adjacent magnets. CONSTITUTION:Four marker means are disposed by leaving an equal spacing each other in correspondence to the four cylinders of a 4-cylinder engines, to the outside edge part of a rotating member 1 which is revolving in synchronization with a crank. Of these, the marker magnet corresponding to the cylinder which serves as a reference is formed of two adjacent magnets 11, 11b, and the marker magnets 12- 14 corresponding to the other markers are formed of respectively single magnets. On the other hand, a magnetosensitive element MR is disposed near the member 1. Then, at the time when the magnets 11a, 11b corresponding to the specific cylinder pass the element MR, the marke signal obtained from the element MR consists of plural pulses and therefore the correspondence to the cylinder and the marker signal is known.
