Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition that contains an aromatic carboxylic alkenylnorbornyl ester an active principle, thus being suitably used as a formulated perfume for soap and other purpose, because it resists oxidation, causes no changes even when stood for a long time and no irritation to skin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition contains an aromatic carboxylic alkenyl- norbornyl ester of formula I (R1 is residue of aromatic carboxylic acid; R2 is 2W3C alkenyl) as an active principle. The compound of formula I is obtained by addition of an aromatic carboxylic acid to an alkenylnorbronene of formula II in the presence of an acid catalyst, e.g., 50W80% sulfuric acid, at 0W100°C. The aromatic carboxylic acid is, benzoic or phenylacetic acid and excessive amounts of the compound of formula II is preferably used on the addition reaction.
